As in its previous editions, the program will be composed of courses given by leaders in the area, plenary talks on various topics at the forefront of probability and thematic sessions in strategic areas of development for probability in Mexico.

All those interested are cordially invited to attend the courses and lectures of the symposium. Students are particularly invited to participate in the different activities of the symposium.

welcome

The Symposium on Probability and Stochastic Processes was first held in 1988 at CIMAT. Over the years, it has successfully fulfilled its main objective: fostering the exchange of ideas and discussions on state-of-the-art developments in the field. The symposium has brought together national and international researchers, as well as graduate students, and has played a crucial role in advancing Probability Theory in Mexico. These exchanges have led to long-term collaborations, including joint research articles, graduate studies of Mexican students with both national and international researchers, lecture notes for courses, and volumes of contributed papers.

The Symposium of Probability and Stochastic Processes takes place typically every two years in various academic institutions in Mexico, although the one expected in 2019 has been delayed due to the involvement of the Mexican community of researchers in this area in the organization of the 15th Latin American Congress of Probability and Mathematical Statistics (CLAPEM), Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, 2019, and by the COVID-19 pandemia, affecting the realization of in person academic events the fourteenth realization of the Symposium in CIMAT was the first occasion after the pandemia for the mexican community to gather with the aim described.

Continuing this tradition, the fifteenth edition will take place at the Universidad de Sonora in Hermosillo from November 10 to 14, 2025.

The event is being jointly organized by CIMAT, CINVESTAV, UNAM, IIMAS-UNAM, UAM, UniSon, UADY, and Universidad del Mar. We extend our gratitude to the institutions and research projects whose generous support is making this event possible.

As in previous editions, the program will feature:

  • Courses taught by leading experts in the field
  • Plenary talks covering cutting-edge topics in probability
  • Thematic sessions focused on key areas of development for probability research in Mexico

All those interested are cordially invited to attend the courses and lectures. Students are especially encouraged to participate in the various activities of the symposium.

SPECIAL VOLUME

Special Volume of the XV Symposium on Probability and Stochastic Processes

University of Sonora, Hermosillo, Mexico, November 10–14, 2025

Description of the Volume

The Symposium on Probability and Stochastic Processes has a long-standing tradition and has been hosted by various academic institutions across Mexico. It continues to fulfill its main goal: to promote the exchange of ideas and the discussion of recent advances in probability theory and stochastic processes, bringing together researchers and graduate students from Mexico and abroad.

As in previous editions, a special volume containing contributed research papers and lecture notes from the symposium participants will be published. This volume is not intended to be conference proceedings in the traditional sense, but rather a curated collection of original articles and lecture notes that reflect the scientific content and discussions of this event. All submitted manuscripts will undergo a rigorous peer-review process, following the highest international standards, including editorial screening and anonymous evaluation by independent expert referees.

Previous volumes have been published by in the Birkhäuser series Progress in Probability.

All participants are invited to submit a recent original research article to be considered for publication in the forthcoming volume. The submission deadline will be approximately May 2026.

For editorial reasons we kindly ask potential contributors to indicate their intention to submit by January 30, 2026, so that we can estimate the number of contributions expected.

Collective Agreement

The Organizing Committee is dedicated to creating a respectful and welcoming environment that values the diversity of all participants. Discrimination, harassment, or any form of mistreatment will not be tolerated.

We invite all participants to reflect on the fact that behavior or language acceptable to one person may be unpleasant or offensive to another.

Please take special care to ensure that your words and actions do not, in any way, undermine another person’s dignity.
